939. WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE CAL: .40-60. Standard grade rifle with 28" octagon barrel, full magazine, standard open sights, single set trigger, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate with trap. SN 46871 CONDITION: About good. All the metal has a cleaned, thin brown patina with traces of blue in sheltered areas. The loading gate has about 75% original blue. The wood is sound with a replaced 2" sliver on each side of the forearm. There is a grain check in the butt and overall retains most of a light refinish. Worn, dark bore. 4-43906 JL316 (1,250-1,750)

940. WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE CAL: .40-65. Standard grade rifle with 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, bead front sight and modern semi buckhorn rear sight. Uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter identifying this rifle as having originally had a set trigger which is now missing and that it was shipped July 16, 1890 & returned and repaired on June 15, 1911. SN 41963 CONDITION: About good. Traces of original finish remain in sheltered areas, otherwise the barrel retains a smooth, light patina with scattered light surface rust. The magazine tube has a couple of small dents with scattered light surface rust. The balance of the metal, with traces of silvered case colors, is mostly a gray patina with light to moderate rust pitting, heavier in some places. The wood is sound and retains about all of a sanded, light refinish. Replaced lower tang screw. 4-43231 JL298 (800-1,200)

941. WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. CAL.: .40-82. Standard grade rifle with 26" round barrel, modified front sight with a modern semi-buckhorn rear sight, uncheckered wood, straight stock with crescent steel buttplate. SN 13583. CONDITION: Traces of original finish remain on the barrel in sheltered areas with the rest of the metal a mottled silver/gray color with scattered surface rust. The wood is sound with a sanded refinish. Strong bright bore, scattered pitting. 4-43712 JL121 (800-1,200)

942. *WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 LEVER ACTION CARBINE. CAL.: .30US (.30-40). Standard grade carbine with 22" round barrel, replacement front sight blade and non-original rear sight. Uncheckered wood with grasping groove forearm, straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. SN 54726. CONDITION: Good. About 40% barrel blue, the receiver with traces of finish, the balance being a silver/gray. The wood is sound, with usual handling and use marks and a few small gouges. No original finish remains. Strong bore with good shine, dark in the grooves. 4-43714 Z55 (800-1,500)

943. *WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SADDLE RING CARBINE CAL: .45-70. Standard grade carbine with 22" round barrel, full magazine, brass blade front sight and 1,000-yard ladder rear sight. Straight grain walnut stock and forearm with straight grip and Winchester logo black composition buttplate. SN 121139 CONDITION: Good. The barrel and magazine tube retain 40-50% strong blue mixed with brown turning silver over the forearm and chamber areas. The receiver with traces of finish in the sheltered areas, is mostly a medium gray patina. The stock has a replaced chip at the toe otherwise, the wood is sound with normal light nicks, dings and scratches and retains most of a light refinish. Strong, bright bore, dark in the grooves. 4-44126 JL284 (3,000-5,000)

944. WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SADDLE RING CARBINE CAL: .38-56. Standard grade carbine with 22" round barrel, full magazine, 2,000-yard ladder rear sight, straight grain walnut stock and forearm with straight grip and steel carbine buttplate. SN 70099 CONDITION: About good. No original finish remains. Traces of silvered case colors on the receiver, otherwise a mottled light-brown patina overall. The stock has a hairline on the right wrist otherwise, the wood is sound with nicks, dings and bruises and a couple of light gouges. Strong, bright bore, dark in the grooves. 4-44125 JL285 (2,500-3,500)

945. *WINCHESTER MODEL 71 DELUXE CARBINE CAL: .348. Short tang carbine with 20" tapered round barrel, 2/3 magazine, integral front sight ramp with hood, the rear dovetail with slot blank and a mounted bolt peep. Checkered straight grain American walnut beavertail forearm and pistol grip buttstock with checkered steel buttplate. The buttstock and forend cap have deluxe swivels, which are included. SN 18047 CONDITION: Very good plus. The metal retains 93-95% strong, bright, original blue, slightly thin on the belly of the receiver. The lever and forend cap are a blue-brown patina. The forearm is sound and retains 50-60% original varnish with moderate wear to the checkering. The buttstock has a hairline on the right wrist and retains 93-95% bright, original varnish with normal use dings and scratches. Bright, shiny bore. 4-44341 JL270 (1,800-2,500)

946. WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. CAL.: .38WCF. Standard grade rifle with 24" octagonal barrel, half-nickel front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate with trap. SN 213147. CONDITION: About very good. The barrel retains 75% thin blue, the magazine tube with blue in the sheltered areas and a blue/brown patina. The receiver retains about 50% thin blue. Lever and hammer retain 10-15% case colors with the balance turned silver. The wood is sound with normal use and handling marks and a thin coat of applied varnish. Bright, shiny bore with scattered pitting. 4-43706 Z49 (1,250-2,250)

947. WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION RIFLE CAL: .32-20 Standard grade rifle with 24" octagon barrel, full magazine, half-nickel front sight and semi buckhorn rear sight, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate without trap. SN 328111 CONDITION: Good to very good. Retains about all of a restored finish to both wood and metal. The barrel and magazine tube are a blue-brown patina, the receiver is bright blue with light pinheads of rust. The wood is sound and retains most of its restored finish. Bright, shiny bore. 4-44105 Z89 (1,200-1,500)

948. *WINCHESTER MODEL 71 DELUXE RIFLE. CAL.: .348. Late manufacture with short tang, 24" tapered round barrel, integral ramp front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. The left side of the receiver factory tapped for receiver sight, checkered wood with beavertail forearm and capped pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate, deluxe forearm cap with integral sling swivel and swivel base inletted in the stock. SN 37356. CONDITION: Good to very good. Metal retains 85-90% strong original blue, thin on the edges and on the belly of the receiver. The wood is sound and retains about 90% varnish. Bright, shiny bore. 4-43720 Z56 (1,000-1,500)

949. *WINCHESTER MODEL '71 LEVER ACTION RIFLE CAL: .348. Standard grade rifle with 24" tapered round barrel, integral ramp front sight with hood and semi buckhorn rear sight. The receiver is factory drilled and tapped for a receiver sight. Uncheckered wood with beavertail forearm and pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate. The stock and magazine tube are fitted with non-factory detachable flush mount swivels. SN 41049 CONDITION: Very good. The metal retains 96-97% strong, bright, original blue. The wood is sound, missing a small chip on the left wrist and retains 92-94% original varnish with some light scratches, handling marks and dings. There is a scratch on the left side of the receiver. 4-43931 JL297 (400-700)

950. *BROWNING MODEL 1886 SADDLE RING CARBINE CAL: .45-70. Standard grade carbine with 22" barrel, square base front sight and ladder carbine rear sight, full magazine, uncheckered wood with straight stock and carbine buttplate. Accompanied by a nylon bandolier containing 50 rounds of Remington and federal .45-70 cal. soft-nose cartridges. SN 06291NY1C7 CONDITION: The carbine is as new with minor handling and storage marks. Appears to be unfired. Ten of the rounds are reloads with the balance factory new. 4-43215 JL323 (900-1,200)

951. *WINCHESTER MODEL 71 DELUXE CARBINE CAL: .348. Short tang carbine with 20" tapered round barrel, integral ramp front sight, missing the hood, semi buckhorn rear sight, 2/3 magazine, checkered beavertail forearm and capped pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate. The stock and forend cap have deluxe sling swivels which are included. SN 17343 CONDITION: About very good. The barrel retains 92-94% dull blue turning brown at the muzzle and over the chamber area. The magazine retains about 95% blue-brown. The forend cap is a silver-brown patina. The receiver retains 93-95% original blue, thin over the top and turning brown on the bottom with pinpoints of light rust on both sides. The wood is sound, shows moderate to heavy wear in the checkering and retains 85-90% of an old refinish. Brilliant, shiny bore. 4-44129 Z87 (1,500-2,000)

952. LARGE RANDALL BOWIE KNIFE. Early old style Randall Bowie with 12-15/16" clip point blade with 6-1/2" back grind, 1-1/2" wide at the handguard. With usual Randall markings on the left side and "T. Kehayas 224-66-2097" on the right side, apparently the owner's name and Social Security number. The handguard is 1/4" brass in "T" shape with oval black phoenolic handle, having red, white and green spacers with round brass pommel cap secured with a brass nut. The sheath is early Randall made with sewn on sharpening stone pocket on the front containing a white Arkansas stone. The back of the belt loop has the usual Randall markings and the numbers "12" and "13". CONDITION: Very good to excellent, the blade has been cleaned and sharpened at one time with scattered cleaned surface rust near the tip and back grind area. The handle and sheath are excellent. 8-86850 (700-1,100)

953. SPRINGFIELD 1881 HUNTING KNIFE. Standard hunting knife with 8-1/4" wide diamond-shape blade, sharp one on edge only, iron hand guard with round ribbed handle marked on the butt "S.W.P./1880". The hand guard has U.S./Springfield on one side and the number "37" on the other side. It is accompanied by an original 1st type leather and bronze sheath with belt hook, marked on the back of the leather "WATERVLIET ARSENAL" and the inspector's initials "JCTD". The back of the belt hook is also marked "WATERVLIET ARSENAL". CONDITION: The knife has most of a full blade that has been severely polished with a ground edge. The hand guard has some nicks and dents with a blue/gray patina. The handle has a few chips in the ribs, but is sound and clean. The sheath is near new. 4-43289 JL412 (350-600)

954. LOT OF TWO EARLY BOWIE KNIVES. 1) Sheffield bowie with 9-1/4" clip point blade, flat ground with the left side etched in a riband "THE PATRIOTS SELF DEFENDER" with etched arabesque patterns surrounding. The left ricasso is marked with the maker's name, but it is indecipherable. It has a thin German silver pointed-end hand guard and a homemade bone handle. CONDITION: Fair. The blade legend and decorations are completely legible, however, the blade is covered with deep pitting and has been amateur cleaned. 2) J. Russell/Green River Works clip point blade 9-1/2" long with the back grind only on the left side. The hand guard is of homemade brass, about an 1/8" thick, and it has smooth homemade stag handles. CONDITION: Good. The blade is moderately pitted, the company name completely legible. 4-43918 JL406 (600-1,000)

955. EARLY ENGLISH FOLDING BOWIE. Early pocket knife with 5" blade that tapers from a 13/16" ricasso out to 1-1/8" at the widest area, then tapers down to a clip point. The left side of the blade has a thumbnail notch and is marked "SHEFFIELD STEEL". The left ricasso has "No 6 SHEFFIELD STEEL" and the right ricasso has two Maltese crosses. It has an articulated brass hand guard with a spacer on the top side. It also has long brass bolsters with tapered thick bone handles and a lock to prevent the blade closing once it is open and to guard the point when it is closed. This guard also has a lanyard ring. CONDITION: 4-43288 JL415 (500-1,500)

956. EUROPEAN HUNTING KNIFE WITH POSSIBLE CONFEDERATE ASSOCIATION. A large clipped pointed Bowie style knife with a 12 1/2" wide flat single edged blade mounted in a cast brass German style hunting hilt with "D" guard knucklebow, stag grip, brass ferrule and pommel cap decorated with figures and scrolls. This knife is accompanied by a tag reading "Property of GAR Post/Laconia, NH" stating that this rebel knife was captured at Harper's Ferry. CONDITION: Very good. Blade is dark with medium surface pitting, edges have been sharpened and brass hilt polished. 4-44032 Y3 (800-1,200)

957. 10" BUTCHER KNIFE WITH BONE HANDLE. The blade is marked "CAST STEEL / SHEFFIELD" below a snake logo indicating its manufacture by Kitchin, on the left side along with three shallow fullers. The bone scales are attached with four rivets with brass escutcheons on the left side. CONDITION: Gray patina overall with some scattered light pitting and areas of brightness. The left scale is slightly warped. 4-43292 FS213 (300-500)

959. CSA MARKED BALLOON OBSERVER'S PATTERN DAGGER. Unusual dagger with 7-1/2" double edge blade, 1-3/8" at the ricasso. Brass mounted with cast engraved hand guard marked in crude letters "CSA", with a small brass butt cap and rough horn scales. The sheath is solid brass engraved to match the handle, with the date 1863. It is crudely wrapped in brown leather with a belt loop secured with two early harness rivets. CONDITION: Cleaned and artificially aged blade with scattered pitting and live rust at the ricasso. The brass has a medium dark mustard patina and one of the scales is cracked. The metal rib around the throat of the sheath is loose and the tip is bent. We do not guarantee age. 4-43286 JL413 (200-600)

960. EARLY SPANISH COLONIAL DAGGER. Delicate dagger with 11" double edged blade, 7/8" at the ricasso with delicate canoe-shaped hand guard, octagonal handle with top and bottom silver ferrules and a dark wood, probably ebony, center handle. Accompanied by its original leather and silver sheath. CONDITION: The blade is nearly full size, apparently having been tipped at some time in the past with light surface pitting and a cleaned patina. The hand guard is slightly loose, otherwise the handle is in good shape. The sheath is dry and crackled with some loss of finish and a 2" split on the front with an open seam on the back. The silver tip is dented and dinged, but intact. The throat has one or two small dents. 4-44024 Z71 (400-700)

961. FINE NORTHWEST KNIFE. 5-3/8" diamond shaped blade is marked "JUKES COULSON" on one side. The bone hilt is partially covered with rawhide. There are sets of three filed notches on both sides of the ricasso at the hilt. This knife has Blackfoot Indian association. CONDITION: Blade has been chemically cleaned to a pebbled gray patina. Both ears of the hilt are cracked but still solid. 4-43293 FS217 (3,000-5,000)

962. 19TH CENTURY J. RODGERS SHEFFIELD CLIP-POINT BOWIE. This interesting clip-point bowie could have possibly been used by a sea faring individual or someone who at one time served on the sea. The reason I say this is because of the outstanding macramé-type braid work on the handle. The blade is marked J Rodgers & Sons 6 Norfolk Street Sheffield. The reverse is stamped with the star and cross trademark. The rawhide macramé work on the handle is outstanding. It is complete with leather nickel-mounted scabbard. SIZE: Blade is 7". Overall length 12". CONDITION: Knife and scabbard appear to be nearly excellent. 8-86972 (750-1,000)

963. BALDWIN & HILL NORTHWEST KNIFE. 7-7/8" diamond shaped blade with large paddle-shaped hilt. The wood scales are attached with large copper rivets and one side is decorated with a stylized Indian shooting. The matching wood scabbard has an Indian with full headdress riding a horse on the front side. This knife has a Blackfoot association and has traces of a name above the riding Indian. CONDITION: Blade has been lightly cleaned and chemically toned. There are several shallow nicks on the edges of the blade. The scabbard and hilt are nicely toned. 4-43290 FS218 (5,000-10,000)

964. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1880 HUNTING KNIFE. 8-3/4" wide spear point blade with brass hand guard riveted to the blade, round ribbed wood handle, marked on the left side of the hand guard "U.S. / SPRINGFIELD" and the serial number on the other side. Accompanied by an original, first-type brass and leather sheath with brass belt hook. The back of the sheath has been carved "J. Kleinle." SN 433. CONDITION: Knife is good to very good. The blade retains a cleaned light gray color with etched pitting on one side and scattered light pitting on the other. The brass hand guard and handle are good. The sheath is dry and flexed, with heavy wear to the top of strap. 4-43837 JL214 (150-400)

965. MODEL 1873 SPADE BAYONET IN MODEL 1865 SCABBARD. CONDITION: Traces of blue visible under soft rust with some battering around the socket. The scabbard is very good, with some scratching around the frog. 4-43564 FS156 (200-400)

966. BAYONET AND CLEANING ROD FOR WINCHESTER 1873 MUSKET. Winchester musket socket bayonet with 18" triangle blade finished bright with no visible marks. Also includes an original Winchester four-piece steel musket wiping rod. CONDITION: The bayonet is near excellent retaining virtually all its bright metal finish with some scattered spots of discoloration and a few spots of light rust. The four-piece rod is near excellent retaining virtually all its original bright metal finish. 4-43951 JL289 (300-500)

967. WINCHESTER MODEL 1866 SOCKET BAYONET. Blued finish, 15 1/2" triangle blade with locking socket that only fits the Winchester Model 1866 musket. CONDITION: Near excellent. Retains most of its original bright blue with scattered light surface rust on the inside and with a couple of small nicks on the socket. 4-44015 JL446 (300-500)

968. *PEDERSOLI DELUXE COPY OF AN 1874 SHARPS CREEDMOOR RIFLE. CAL.: .45-70. Blued and case colored finish with 32" octagon barrel that has a globe front sight, no provision for a rear sight, and with a long-range Vernier tang sight. The top flat of the barrel is marked in script "THE SHARPS CREEDMOOR." It has beautifully figured straight grain wood with slightly oversized forearm that has a scalloped nickeled metal tip, checkered straight stock with case colored engraved buttplate. The receiver, hammer and lever are beautifully case colored and game scene engraved with a bull moose on the left side, a buffalo on the right side, and three running buffalo on the lockplate, all surrounded with very fine arabesque pattern engraving. It is fitted with double set triggers. Accompanied by its original canvas and leather green felt-lined trunk case containing the original metal card of sight inserts, missing one, and a full box of Remington ammunition. SN SCR141. CONDITION: As new, unfired. Retains all its original factory finish. The case is also new. 4-43192 JL383 (1,250-1,750)

969. BEN SHOSTLE ENGRAVED BALLARD TWO BARREL SET CAL: .25-20WCF and .218Bee. Wonderfully engraved by the famous artist Ben Shostle with foliate arabesque patterns on a beautiful dark background covering about 50% of the receiver on both sides and the top three flats. The matching engraving extends 3 1/4" up the top flat of the barrel and down over the sides. The chamber area and the muzzle have two gold bands on both barrels. The .25-20 barrel is 28" octagon with bead front sight and semi buckhorn rear sight. The .218BEE barrel is 30", octagon to round with Sheared front sight, no rear sight and the top flat mounted with a custom engraved quarter rib with quick detachable Warne vertical rings that are matching engraved. The engraving extends almost to the front end of the octagon section. Both barrels have matching schnable tipped, highly figured forearms with fine diamond pattern checkering. The receiver is mounted with a modern mid-range vernier tang sight. The stock is beautifully figured shell grain walnut with straight grip and case colored crescent buttplate that has about 75% coverage matching engraving. A truly beautiful piece of artwork. Accompanied by a Ben Shostle certificate of authenticity indicating that the wood was done by "Jack Haugh." SN 20534 CONDITION: Outstanding. Retains virtually all its custom finish to metal and wood. The epitome of the gun maker's art. The engraving does credit also to the gun engraver's art. Bores are bright and shiny. 4-43254 JL328 (4,000-8,000)

970. MECHANICAL HUNTER MANNEQUIN. Wild store front mannequin automaton from the 20's or 30's purported to have graced the front window of Abercrombie & Fitch on 5th Avenue. Mfg. by Mechanical Man Inc., NYC. On a gravel and wood base. The fearless gentlemanly hunter takes aim and shoots. Decked in Gus Alexander khaki sportswear, he also comes with two crusher hats and a red plaid hunting cap. SIZE: 47 1/2"h. CONDITION: Very clean and in good working condition with only minor paint chips to the hands. 1-26717 (5,000-7,000)

971. ANTIQUE NAVAJO INDIAN RUG. This early 20th century Navajo Indian rug is in colors of red, brown, tan, gray, and deep tannic brown. With a cross design. SIZE: 4' 1" x 7' 8". CONDITION: Generally very good. Small fray to the end of the rug. 4-44428 (700-1,000)

972. MINIATURE COLT 1861 NAVY PERCUSSION REVOLVER WITH SHOULDER STOCK. This copy of an 1861 Navy Colt is a precise scale miniature of the original. It is wonderfully blued with case color and brass trigger guard, one-piece walnut grip. The cylinder with a rolled battle scene. The shoulder stock is the appropriate style for original Colt. Fitted in a glass-top display case with US Historical Society brass plaque mounted on the interior. SN 46. SIZE: Overall size approximately 12". 3-1/2" barrel. CONDITION: Nearly new. 4-44431 (1,000-1,500)

973. MINIATURE 1860 COLT ARMY PERCUSSION REVOLVER. This is a precise scale miniature of an 1860 Army percussion revolver. It has wonderful blue and case color finish with appropriate brass trigger guard and one-piece walnut grip. The cylinder with rolled battle scene. It is cased in a deep burgundy-red crushed velvet lined walnut case which is fitted with a brass US Historical Society plaque. SN 46. SIZE: Approximately 7" overall with 4" barrel. CONDITION: Appears to be nearly new. 4-44430 (1,000-1,500)

974. MINIATURE COLT WALKER REVOLVER Made by Uberti in Italy, this precision scale miniature of the famous Colt Walker has a 4 1/4" octagon to round barrel with a blue and case colored finish with authentic looking engraved scene on the cylinder and one-piece cast silver grip. SN 216 CONDITION: Unturned. Near excellent. Retains virtually all its niter blue and case colored finish with brass trigger guard a light yellow. The grip has a stain around the heel, otherwise is smooth and clean. Mechanically functional. 4-44048 JL147 (1,000-1,500)

975. MINIATURE COLT SINGLE ACTION ARMY Made by Uberti in Italy, this precision scale miniature of a 7 1/2" single action has a 3 9/16" barrel, bulls eye ejector rod head, black powder frame and blue and case colored finish with extensive engraving over the barrel, frame and grip frame and has gold wire inlay over most of the surface. It is fitted with genuine ivory one-piece grips. SN 1427. CONDITION: Unturned. As new. Retains virtually all its beautiful high luster finish. 977. DOUBLE-W WINCHESTER CARTRIDGE BOARD. Full-size (50" x 34") lithograph of an original cartridge board that has had cartridges attached by means of two small wires. It is reasonably complete, missing approximately 21 of the cartridges (none of the important ones) and all of the cap and primer boxes, in a plain pine frame. CONDITION: The colors are crisp and bright with a small bubble through the "Winchester" at the top. The images have the appearance of having been cleaned. 4-44136 JL357 (1,000-2,000)

978. PAIR OF EARLY SHOTGUN CHAPS. Made of medium-weight dark split cowhide 36-1/2" from the top of the belt to the bottom of the cuff. Of plain undecorated leather, unlined, with pockets on the front and fine fringe down both legs. The left billet of the belt has hand cut initials "FD". CONDITION: Two of three spots of old repair with some dry rot on the right leg. Both leather pocket buttons are missing. The cuffs appear to be old repairs. A fine old pair of honest working chaps. 4-43922 JL435 (400-600)

979. COLT DRAGOON PRESENTATION CASE. This case, which perfectly fits a 7-1/2" dragoon, is oak, 14-3/4" long by 8-1/2" wide and 3-1/4" deep. The medallion is missing from the lid and appears to have been recently pried off and the lock escutcheon is missing. Accompanied by a Smith & Wesson letter identifying this revolver as having been shipped June 13, 1873 to M.W. 992. EARLY ARGENTINE BOLAS AND A GAUCHO KNIFE. Very early ivory and silver bolas with 2" ivory balls encased in a silver cage, marked on the ring "A. AMOROS" and "800" signifying Sterling silver. The three bolas, graduated in sizes from 2" down to 1-3/4" are attached to tapered braided leather reates. The knife has a 5" straight tapered flat ground blade marked on the left side "H. BOKER & CO SOLINGEN" with a tree in the middle. Up toward the ricasso, has the stamped name "ALEMAN" and the hand guard has the number "18". The handle is tapered oval silver, engraved in foliate patterns and is 4-1/2" long. The sheath is leather and silver with several tiny gold-plated flowers and the initials "RD" in gold in a circle at the bottom. The belt clip is marked "AMOROSOLLOERAY Cia" with the hallmark "800" and is marked again the same way at the throat of the sheath. CONDITION: The bolas have numerous age lines and small chips, with one large ding. 999. *LOT OF TWO 2ND GENERATION COLT SINGLE ACTION REVOLVERS THE PROPERTY ARVO OJALA. CAL.: .45 Colt. Both revolvers are nickel finish with 4-3/4" barrels, gold washed triggers and custom one-piece flared butt walnut grips. The backstraps of both guns are inscribed "Arvo Ojala". The hammers have been modified for fanning or slip firing and the action is tuned and very smooth. These revolvers are accompanied by a Colt letter dated July 23, 1987, stating that they left the factory with blue finish and 7-1/2" barrels and that they were shipped December 18, 1957 to "Arvo Ojala, Hollywood Fast Draw Holster, 4715 Lankershim Blvd., North Hollywood, CA." They subsequently were reworked to their current configuration by Arvo Ojala. Also accompanying is a double buscadero rig of plain heavy black leather. The holsters are cut-aways with single loop and are marked twice inside the belt and on each holster with Arvo Ojala's company brand. The belt has twenty .45 cal. sewn-on cartridge loops. Also accompanying is a solid Sterling silver belt buckle 3-1/2" by 2-1/2" depicting a gunfighter on a western street scene shooting a single action Colt surmounted by "ARVO OJALA" and having a strip of film across the bottom with the word "HOLLYWOOD". The buckle was sculpted by Al Shelton of Studio City, CA and is a limited edition number 4. Additionally accompanying is a scrapbook with several original photographs of Arvo Ojala and various movie stars that he taught to shoot over his 40-50 year career as a shooting coach and gun rig maker. The cover is a signed photograph of Arvo Ojala wearing this rig, which appeared in a Western Lifestyle Magazine, Winter 1999, and was part of a 4-page article on Arvo Ojala and his connection to Hollywood. This shotgun has been extensively engraved with deep relief stippled background engraving, having a silver woodcock inlay on the left side, a silver pheasant on the right side and a large silver fox on the bottom. The back edge of the receiver has been modified to a triple-scalloped pattern. The top tang and lever are also engraved with a silver pigeon on the opening lever. Beautiful classic sporting rifle built on a post-64 Winchester action with a 24" tapered round barrel marked with the maker's name on the top, the caliber on the left side of the chamber, and the number "01-0008" (indicating that this is the 8th Opus 1 model rifle built). The Opus Sporting Arms Co. was located in Long Beach, California, according to an article beginning on page 44 of Guns Magazine, January 1988, which accompanies this rifle. Rifle is mounted in a highly figured Claro walnut stock with ebony forend tip, skeleton grip cap and thick shadow cheek piece, 14-1/8" over its original decelerator pad. The receiver is mounted with Buehler bases and rings. The bolt body and follower are jeweled. The sling swivel bases are inletted into the stock and forearm. The shotgun barrels have a narrow matted rib with single bead and a "II" at the chamber end, choked IC/Cyl. Both barrels have double lump with twin barrel extensions for Greener crossbolt with gold-plated ejectors. The receiver has full coverage engraving with game scenes on the lockplates of two running raebuck in a nicely detailed woodland scene, and five ducks in a marsh scene on the right side, all surrounded with very fine arabesque pattern scrolls. The blue trigger guard has matching engraving and the spring-loaded 4-hole toe trap has a nicely detailed fox with full coverage extremely fine arabesque pattern engraving. The grip cap is an inlaid German silver oval with a bugling bull elk. The double triggers are gold-plated with checkered panels and the right one is set. Accompanied by a Ziess 6X42 scope in claw mounts and a Browning plush-lined two barrel case with two leather slings. 1066. ENGRAVED AND INLAID SECOND EDITION COLT DRAGOON. CAL.: .44. Spectacular and wonderfully engraved 3rd Model Colt dragoon, appears to be a second generation Colt product. Fabulously engraved by "R. Dewill / Liege." This revolver is engraved overall with foliate arabesque patterns with about 85% coverage with heavy gold wire and arabesque patterns in raised gold. The flats of the barrel have deep relief gold wolves. The recoil shield has two prairie dogs on the left and a squirrel on the right. Each side of the rear of the frame has a bird dog head. The sides of the frame under the cylinder has "Colts Patent" in gold surrounded by fleur-de-lis and arabesque gold wire. The cylinder has a large "Colts Patent / No 19084" in gold. The trigger guard and backstrap and all the screws on the revolver are gold-plated and the grip frame has about 60% coverage foliate arabesque pattern engraving. This revolver is fitted with one-piece walnut grips that are checkered with about 32-line checkering with leaf carvings at the top. The barrel and cylinder are browned, the rammer, frame and hammer are case colored, and the rammer latch, wedge and trigger are niter blued. Accompanied by an oak, red velvet-lined French fitted display case which also contains an original type pair of one-piece walnut dragoon grips. This rifle has a 24" tapered round barrel, sleeve front sight, extra long slide Lyman 48 receiver sight, and a Griffin & Howe double lever side mount with a Zeiss small tube scope. The bolt handle has been bent and the body and handle polished. The outside receiver rail and follower have been jeweled. The trigger is custom and is finely checkered. The safety has also been modified for scope use. It is mounted in a beautifully figured Germanic-style sporting stock with schnable tipped forearm, side panels with an engraved crossbolt. The forearm and wrist are checkered and the buttstock has a European-style cheek piece with a serrated buttplate with trap, which contains a spare firing pin. The belly of the stock has a silver initial oval nicely engraved "E.C." The floorplate has a custom release with a knurled panel. No SN. CONDITION: Very good. The barrel and receiver retain 92-93% strong custom blue, both receiver bridges have been drilled and tapped. The floorplate and trigger guard retain 85-90% thinning blue. The left rear of the receiver has a Lyman 48WJS receiver sight with target knobs. The stock is nicely figured American walnut with fine checkered forearm and pistol grip butt 13" over a thin flat rubber buttplate. The sling swivels have a 1917 dated military sling. The case colored receiver is unadorned, except for the maker's name on each side. The wood is straight grain stained dark with a splinter forearm and straight stock 14-1/8" over a solid recoil pad. Accompanied by a leather and canvas covered trunk case. SN 124HP. CONDITION: Near excellent. Appears to be unfired retaining virtually all its original finish to wood and metal. The receiver, barrel lugs and about 2" over the chamber is etched engraved in floral arabesque patterns. The wood is modestly figured walnut with a long tapered forearm and pistol grip stocks 14-1/4" over a decelerator pad. SN S8802684. CONDITION: Very good to excellent. Retains most of its original finish to metal and wood. The forearm has a repaired crack near the receiver end. Bright, shiny bore. Imported by Von Lengerke & Detmold. 34" octagon to round vent rib barrel with two ivory beads, marked with the importer's name and information on opposing flats at the chamber end. The trim flat-sided receiver with rounded edges has a faceted matted top with the maker's name and address on the left side. The forearm is original and is of beavertail proportions. The stock appears to be a replacement, with plain side panels, pistol grip and Monte Carlo comb 14" over a decelerator pad. SN 81463. CONDITION: Very good plus. The barrel retains about 90% strong bright original blue. The receiver retains traces of case color in protected areas with the balance a silver color. The forearm wood is dark and shows moderate use. The buttstock retains 85-90% of its custom finish. The consignor believes that the ejector was changed to an extractor. 4-43654 JL50 (700-1,000)

Field grade configuration with 30" steel barrels, choked Mod/Mod, splinter forearm and semi-pistol grip stock 13-7/8" over the original black composition buttplate. Unadorned case colored receiver and lockplates. SN 218002. CONDITION: Very good. The barrels retain 93-95% original blue with scattered light surface rust and slight thinning over the chambers. The receiver retains about 50% good case colors, turned silver on the front half. The lockplates and hammers retain about 80% stronger case colors, slightly faded. The stock has a hairline back of each lockplate, but otherwise the wood is sound and retains 90-93% original varnish with usual use and storage marks. Bright, shiny bores. 4-43799 JL11 (400-700)
