701. * SCARCE WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal. 50 Express. Standard grade carbine with 22" round barrel, full magazine, uncheckered wood, with smooth steel carbine buttplate. Standard front sight with platinum line 3-leaf express barrel sight and Lyman No. 21 long receiver sight. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter, identifying this carbine as having been received in the warehouse 2 February 1906 and shipped 12 September 1908. Ser. 134297. CONDITION: Very good plus, the barrel retains 93-95% original blue, slightly dulled over the forearm area. The magazine tube retains 95-96% strong bright original blue, the receiver retains 75-80% original finish, strong, bright in the sheltered areas. The lever and hammer retain 50-60% case colors, the wood is sound and retains most of a light applied surface finish with a replaced chip at the right wrist and three notches also on the right wrist. 702. * WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SPECIAL ORDER LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 50-100-450. Special order standard grade rifle with 26" round barrel, factory original fine micro-groove type rifling, button magazine, case colored receiver, extra finish wood, nicely figured straight stock with original factory red rubber pad. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum "yellow sheet" fully identifying this rifle, that it was equipped with sling and swivels and a flat top sporting rear sight with line. This rifle never had sling swivels. It currently has a platinum line 3-leaf express sight although possibly not original has been in place most of the life of the rifle. Ser. 124709. CONDITION: As noted, very good, the barrel retains 85% thinning blue/brown, the receiver about 20% case colors, strong in the sheltered areas, with the balance a mottled silver/gray. The forearm has a hairline at the receiver, otherwise the wood is sound and retains about 85% original piano finish. The lever retains 25-30% bright case colors and the hammer about 85% case colors. 703. * WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 SRC. Cal. 25-20. Standard grade carbine with 20" round barrel, full magazine, uncheckered wood, with smooth steel carbine buttplate. The barrel has carbine ladder site and the left side of the receiver a staple and ring. Ser. 189089. CONDITION: Very good, the metal retains mostly a light brown patina with original blue in the sheltered areas. 704. ANTIQUE WINCHESTER MODEL 1892 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 38 WCF. Standard grade rifle with 24" round barrel, full magazine, uncheckered wood, straight stock with crescent steel buttplate. The barrel has a half nickel front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight and an early Lyman tang sight. Ser. 46845. CONDITION: Very good to excellent, the barrel and magazine tube retain 95-96% strong original blue, the receiver 92-95% thinning original finish, the lever and hammer retain generous amounts of original case colors, the wood is sound and retains 95-96% original finish. The "WP" proof on the barrel is in front of the rear sight. Ser. 311559. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel and magazine tube retain about 95% original finish with nicks and dings around the muzzle end and vice marks at the chamber. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel and magazine tube retain about 95% original finish, the receiver 20-25% thin original blue with the balance turned silver. 707. * WINCHESTER MODEL 71 STANDARD GRADE LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 348 Win. Standard grade rifle with 24" round barrel, half magazine, uncheckered wood, semi-beavertail forearm and pistol grip stock, with checkered steel shotgun buttplate. The magazine tube and buttstock have after market swivels installed. Original sights with sight hood. Ser. 42857. CONDITION: As noted, otherwise excellent, retaining 97-98% strong original finish with only minor edge wear and light handling and use marks. A nearly new slightly used rifle. 708. WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. Short barreled rifle with 22" round barrel, full magazine, uncheckered wood, with smooth steel shotgun buttplate. The barrel has a German silver Rocky Mountain front sight and full buckhorn rear sight. This rifle appears to have had a completely restored finish and also appears to have been rechambered to its current caliber. Ser. 60660. CONDITION: As noted, retains virtually all its beautiful restored finish including case colored receiver. The receiver appears to have been lightly pitted when the new finish was accomplished. 709. * WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 DELUXE TAKE DOWN RIFLE. Cal. 33 WCF. Late production extra light weight deluxe rifle with 24" tapered round barrel, half magazine, take down with "I" checkered forearm and capped pistol grip stock with checkered steel buttplate. The receiver is mounted with a Redfield peep sight. Ser. 154973. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter fully identifying this rifle and indicating shipment 17 October 1918 to J.A. Johnston, Pittsburgh, PA. CONDITION: Excellent, the barrel, magazine tube and forend cap retain 95-97% strong bright original finish, the receiver 95-97% strong bright blue, with a series of small scratches on the left side and slightly thinned belly. Standard grade rifle with 26" round barrel, full magazine, case colored receiver, uncheckered wood, with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. The barrel has a half nickel front sight and full buckhorn rear sight. Ser. 56570. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel and magazine tube retain virtually all of a nice restored finish. The receiver retains 40-50% case colors, bright in sheltered areas with the balance a silver/gray. The lever and hammer retain 30-40% original case colors. 711. * WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LIGHTWEIGHT TAKE DOWN RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. Late production rifle with 24" tapered lightweight barrel, half magazine, take down with "I" checkered forearm and capped pistol grip stock that has a Winchester logo black composition buttplate. The front sight is ivory bead hunting type and the rear a late semi-buckhorn. Ser. 135249. CONDITION: The metal retains 96-97% strong bright original finish overall, with only fine edge wear and some minor nicks and scratches on the receiver. The lever retains 15-20% case colors with the balance turned silver. The hammer retains 25-30% case colors. The wood is sound and retains about all of a fine restored finish. Standard grade rifle with 24" lightweight tapered barrel, pedestal front sight with ivory bead hunting blade, semi-buckhorn rear sight, scarce full magazine, uncheckered wood, with crescent steel buttplate. The magazine tube and buttstock are mounted with after market swivels. Ser. 138716. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel retains 90-92% strong original finish with a couple of small cleaned spots on the left side. The magazine tube retains 95-97% strong bright original finish, the receiver 70-80% original finish, thin on the bottom and right side. The wood is sound and retains 60-70% original varnish. 713. WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 HIGH WALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 40-70 SS. Standard grade rifle with 30" No. 3 weight octagon barrel, fitted with hunting front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight, case colored receiver, uncheckered wood, black tip Schnable forearm and straight stock with crescent steel buttplate. Ser. 67324. CONDITION: Good to very good, the barrel retains 80-85% thinning original blue, the front sight is missing its ivory bead, the receiver retains 25-30% faded case colors, with the balance turning silver with light surface pitting. The stock has a couple hairlines back of the top tang and another at the forend tip, otherwise is sound and retains 50-60% original finish, slightly alligatored. 714. * WINCHESTER U.S. PROPERTY LOW WALL WINDER MUSKET. Cal. 22 Short. Standard rifle with 28" round barrel, full length forearm, with metal forend tip, one barrel band with sling loops. The barrel is mounted with an early Lyman windgage front sight and Lyman receiver sight. The top of the receiver behind the hammer is marked with "US" and flaming bomb. Usual musket type stock with smooth steel buttplate. Ser. 129553. CONDITION: Very good, barrel retains 95-97% original blue with four or five spots of light pitting between the receiver and barrel band. The receiver retains about 70% original finish with the left side flaked to a light brown patina with one small spot of pitting. The wood is sound, missing a small chip from the forearm and retains most of its original oil finish. Brilliant shiny bore. 715. WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 HIGH WALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 40-90 SS. Standard grade rifle with 32" No. 4 weight octagon barrel, single set trigger, uncheckered wood, with black tip Schnable forearm, straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. The barrel is mounted with an early globe front sight, semi-buckhorn rear sight and a later locking Lyman tang sight of 1892 or 1894 rifle type. Ser. 5751. CONDITION: Good to very good, the barrel retains a medium plum brown patina, with some light chemical spotting. The receiver retains 50-60% silvered case colors, the wood is sound and retains most of a restored finish. 716. * WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 HIGH WALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 38-55. Standard grade rifle with 30" No. 4 weight octagon barrel, uncheckered wood, black tip Schnable forearm, straight stock with crescent steel buttplate. The barrel has a Lyman 17 globe front sight, a homemade slot blank and a Marbles spring loaded tang sight, the receiver is fitted with Schutzen double set triggers, and long lever. Ser. 96777. CONDITION: As noted, the barrel retains 97-98% of what appears to be a factory refinish, as the original proof has been almost polished out and a second proof mark overstamped. The lower tang, lever and hammer appear to be of a later finish. The receiver retains 93-95% thinning original blue, the wood is sound and retains virtually all its original finish with minor handling and storage nicks and dings with a series of small bruises on the right side of the forearm. 717. WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 DELUXE LOW WALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 32 WCF. Beautiful deluxe rifle with 28" No. 1 octagon barrel, windgage front sight, slot blank on the barrel and a mid-range Vernier tang sight. The top flat of the barrel between the receiver and sight dovetail has been drilled and tapped with two holes. Beautiful 3X wood with checkered black tip Schnable forearm, checkered black insert pistol grip stock and crescent steel buttplate. The receiver is case colored and the lower tang fitted with single set trigger. Ser. 48218. CONDITION: As noted, excellent, the barrel retains 96-97% strong bright blue, possibly an old restoration. The receiver retains 85-90% strong bright case colors with some original shellac still on the left side. The wood is sound and retains 95-97% original piano finish with only minor handling and storage nicks and dings. 718. WINCHESTER MODEL 1885 HIGH WALL SINGLE SHOT RIFLE. Cal. 32-40. Standard grade rifle with 30" No. 3 weight round barrel, Lyman globe front sight, the barrel not cut for rear sight and the tang with a later Model 1892/94 tang sight. The lower tang fitted with single set trigger, uncheckered wood, black tip Schnable forearm and straight stock with crescent steel buttplate. The serial number is not present on the lower tang and was either removed or is an unnumbered replacement. The barrel is nickel steel with a "WP" proof over the chamber, the receiver is not proofed. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel retains 92-93% original blue with an area of light pitting 6" or 7" down the left side of the barrel and more on the right side. The receiver retains about 90% thin mottled blue with the lever and lower tang a silvery/gray patina. The wood is sound and retains 85-90% original finish. 719. WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 SHORT RIFLE. Cal. 45-75. Standard grade rifle with 22" octagon barrel, Rocky Mountain front sight with "1876" marked ladder barrel sight, full magazine, uncheckered wood, straight stock with smooth steel shotgun buttplate, factory sling swivels, and thick base tang sight. Accompanied by a Winchester letter dated September 25, 1964 fully identifying this rifle as described above and stating it was shipped June 21, 1884. Ser. 39721. CONDITION: Very good to excellent, the barrel and magazine tube retain 92-94% strong bright original blue, the receiver retains about 90% original blue with edge and belly wear, three or four dings on each side of the receiver and slightly battered screws. The lever retains about 50% faded case colors with the balance turned silver, the hammer retains about 80% case colors. 720. WINCHESTER 1ST MODEL 1873 RIFLE. Cal. 44 WCF. Standard grade rifle with 24" octagon barrel, full magazine, half nickel front sight, early type semi-buckhorn rear sight with beveled edges and checkered panels. The mortice dust cover is of the raised thumb print type and possibly not original to this rifle. The tang is fitted with a later style Lyman sight. Uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Ser. 6181. CONDITION: Fair to good, no original finish remains on barrel and magazine tube, being mostly a silvery/brown patina, the receiver has traces of original blue around the left sideplate with the balance a silvery/gray patina. 721. WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 40-60. Standard grade rifle with 28" octagon barrel, full magazine, German silver Rocky Mountain front sight and early style barrel sight with beveled edges and checkered edges, has been filed flat on top. Case colored receiver, uncheckered wood, straight stock, with crescent steel buttplate with trap. Ser. 41079. CONDITION: As noted, the barrel and magazine tube retain 75-80% thin blue/brown with some scattered light surface rust near the chamber area, the receiver retains 10-15% case colors with the balance turned silver, dark toward the front end. The hammer retains 50-60% case colors while the lever is mostly a dark patina, the wood is sound and retains 75-80% original varnish. 722. WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-60. Standard grade rifle with 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, homemade front sight blade with long, open rear sight, 2nd model receiver with screwed on dust cover rail and single set trigger, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Ser. 21620. CONDITION: Fair to good, no original finish remains, being mostly a silvery/brown patina overall. The wood is sound and smooth with usual handling and use nicks and dings and two or three larger bruises to the buttstock. 723. WINCHESTER MODEL 1876 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-60. Standard grade rifle with 28" octagon barrel, full magazine, half nickel front sight and very unusual "1876" marked ladder sight having a full buck-horn aperture, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate with trap containing a 5-piece brass and iron wiping rod. The left side of the buttstock has rough carved initials "BP". Ser. 30673. CONDITION: Good to very good, the barrel and magazine tube retain 30-40% thin original blue in sheltered areas with the balance a light silvery brown patina. The receiver retains 50-60% thin blue with the balance a silvery brown patina, the wood is sound with no original finish having a nice hand rubbed polish with usual handling and use nicks and scratches. Standard grade rifle with special order 28" octagon barrel, full magazine tube, uncheckered wood, with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate with trap. The right side of the receiver in front of the sideplate is stamped "13". The barrel has a half nickel front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Ser. 410362. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel retains about 90% dull original blue, with scattered surface rust and pitting. The magazine tube retains 90-92% strong bright blue with brown discoloration at the tip, the receiver retains 85-90% thin original finish turning plum, the wood is sound and retains most of an old refinish. Standard grade rifle with 26" round barrel, full magazine, modified half nickel front sight, and semi-buckhorn rear sight, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Ser. 58403. CONDITION: Good, the barrel and magazine retain traces of finish in sheltered areas with the balance a silvery brown patina. The receiver retains 5-10% faded case colors with the balance turned silver and gray patina. The wood is sound and retains a nice hand rubbed patina, slightly battered hammer screw. The receiver has scattered light pitting with touch up blue on the left side and over the top. 727. WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. Standard grade rifle with 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Rocky Mountain front sight and "1886" marked ladder rear sight. Ser. 74949. CONDITION: Fair to good, the barrel retains 20-30% thin blue in sheltered areas with the balance a blue/brown patina. The magazine tube is mostly a silvery patina, the receiver with scattered fine surface pitting is a silvery gray patina. The top tang, through the stock screw hole, has been filed apparently to remove a battered screw. 728. WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 40-82. Standard grade rifle with 25-3/4" octagon barrel, full magazine, case colored receiver, uncheckered wood, with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate. Sheard front sight and flat top open rear sight. Ser. 117379. CONDITION: As noted, the barrel has been slightly amputated, otherwise very good condition. The barrel and magazine tube retain 85-90% blue/brown finish, the receiver about 75% of the original faded case colors with the balance having turned silver. There is some very fine scattered light surface pitting on the receiver. The lever and hammer retain traces of dark case colors with the balance turned silver, the wood is sound and retains about all of a sanded and restored finish. 729. WINCHESTER MODEL 1886 SPECIAL ORDER IDENTIFIED LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. Standard grade rifle with 26" octagon barrel, full magazine, uncheckered wood, with straight stock and smooth steel shotgun buttplate. The left side of the receiver is professionally engraved "Andre C. Champollion" and the lower tang is fitted with double set triggers. Accompanied by a Winchester letter dated September 26, 1963 identifying this rifle and indicating shipment on September 29, 1897. The engraving is not mentioned in the letter but it is evident that it has been there the life of the rifle. The letter also indicates that the rifle was shipped with a plain trigger, however it is equally apparent that the double set triggers have also been with the rifle its entire lifetime. Most of the length of the bottom of the forearm is carved in crude letters dating from 1898 to 1902 indicating the animals apparently killed by the owner during those years. These animals include elk, bear and deer. Ser. 113776. CONDITION: As noted, good plus, the barrel and magazine tube retain 65-75% blue/brown turning plum, the receiver retains traces of silvered case hardening with some visible case colors on the top tang where a sight was removed. 730. WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. Cal. 32 WCF. Standard grade rifle with 24" octagon barrel, uncheckered wood with straight stock and crescent steel buttplate without trap. Half nickel front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Ser. 253535. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel retains about 90% original finish, thin and dull over the chamber area with nicks and dings and hammer marks near the magazine guide. The magazine tube retains 85-90% thin blue/brown, the receiver retains about 90% original finish, thin and browning near the front. The wood is sound with usual handling and use marks with one or two gouges and retains about 80% varnish on the stock while the forearm is a smooth patina. Half nickel front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Ser. 419305. CONDITION: Fair to good, no original finish remains on the barrel and magazine tube, being a silver gray metal color. The receiver retains 25-30% thin blue, with some scattered pitting on the sideplates and mars on the left side of the receiver. Half nickel front sight with lock screw and semi-buckhorn rear sight. Ser. 366814. CONDITION: Good to very good, the barrel retains 85-90% original finish, slightly thin on the upper area, the magazine tube about 90% original blue with minor nicks and scratches. The receiver retains about 50% thin blue, mostly on the sides, with silver/gray top and bottom. The wood is sound and retains about 80% of an applied finish. The factory letter shows that this action was originally shipped as a receiver in 1901 and returned in 1902 and made into a rifle. Besides the features already mentioned, the Lyman front sight is mentioned in the letter, but the express rear sight is not. CONDITION: 80% blue on barrel, 30% on receiver. Casehardening colors on lever and butt plate have mostly silvered out but strong traces remain on the breech block and hammer. The wood has moderate to heavy dents and some light scratching. The bore is evenly pitted, but the rifling is still sharp. The set trigger needs adjustment. 4-42323 FS22 (800-1,200)

The rear barrel sight slot has been plugged with a cut off sight base and a Lyman tang sight added. CONDITION: 80% blue on barrel, 70% slightly faded case hardening colors on top and right side of the action. The left side of the action has traces of color at the rear and light pitting and silvery spots on the front. The lever, lower tang and butt plate are mostly silvered out, excepted in protected spots. The wood on the forearm is slightly fancy, but has no checkering. The bore is bright. Spectacular engraved 1894 with 26" octagon to round barrel, half magazine, take-down, with "H" style checkered wood, capped pistol grip, and about 3X highly figured buttstock of beautiful center crotch cut shell grain walnut, the left side of the receiver is engraved with a big horn sheep vignette, a variation based on style No. 9 with leaf, vine and strap work patterns based on style No. 6. The right side has a standing elk vignette with leaf and vine and light border patterns, the top of the receiver, tang and take-down ring are lightly engraved with Arabesque patterns, the chamber area, about 1-1/2" over the top three flats also engraved with Arabesque patterns and there is a single gold line at the barrel root. This rifle is pictured on page 342 of Winchester Engraving, Second Edition by Wilson and the engraving is attributed to Stokes. The receiver retains 88-90% strong original blue, with a flaked area, not from wear, over the top of the receiver ring and down the left top edge of the receiver. The right side of the receiver has several small scattered white spots and small spots of rust with a 1/8" x 1/4" spot, The left side of the receiver has a couple of 1/8" spots of pitting. The barrel is fitted with half nickel front sight and semi-buckhorn "1927" patent dated rear sight. Ser. 160687. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel retains 92-93% strong original finish with light surface rust, magazine tube retains 92-94% strong bright original blue with some minor scratches and a thin spot just above the forearm. The receiver retains 60-70% original finish, thin on the right side, stronger on the left, the top and bottom silver gray. The lever retains traces of case colors with the hammer retaining about 75% dark colors. The receiver was made in 1899 and does not have a proof mark, however the barrel has a "WP" proof which indicates the barrel assembly is likely a later factory replacement. The stock has a hairline at the right wrist and the wood overall retains a nice hand rubbed patina with a small gouge in the forearm and usual handling and use marks elsewhere.
