Lot 400-407

400. BRITISH LIFEGUARD HELMET. The plated metal helmet has applied gilt and silver royal family emblem, as well as a large red horsehair plume. CONDITION: Fine, with no external signs of wear, some spots of corrosion on the gilt overlays. Some of the stitching on the chin guard liner has come loose. 4-43039 (1,00-2,200)

401. UNIDENTIFIED EUROPEAN PARADE HELMET. The brass crest with black horsehair brush has a crown over "M" embossed on the front. The chin strap fastening is broken off and missing. The liner is also missing. CONDITION: Generally good. The bill is loose. A rosette has been added above the left lion head strap holder. 4-43037 .(800-1,000)

402. UNUSUAL EAGLE MOUNTED HELMET, POSSIBLY PRUSSIAN Crowned circle containing conjoined Cs on the front. Nickel plated crest runs from eagle on top to the rear. Blue, gold and red rosette on right side. CONDITION: Appears to be unused, but has some wear to the sweatband from setting on display cabinet. The right tail rivet is broken. The eagle finial shows considerable handling wear. 4-43042 (2,000-3,000)

403. UNIDENTIFIED FUR SHAKO. The beaver (?) body has a red felt top and side flap. It is lined with purple silk. A red and white feather cockade has been associated, but does not fit the holder. Also has a three-strand gold wire braid which is not large enough to go around the base. CONDITION: The fur is badly worn on the left side, and above the ear on the right. The lining is tattered. 4-43051 (200-400)

404. BAVARIAN INFANTRY ENLISTED MAN’S PICKELHAUBE. Red, white and black rosette on right side. Gold, blue and gold on left. CONDITION: Exterior is very fine with one star-shaped crack above the front piece. There is some flaking on the left rosette. The liner is frayed in spots, with some cracking. 4-43040 (2,500-3,000)

405. GREEN PRESSED FABRIC ONE-PIECE PICKELHAUBE. Starburst with brown coat of arms on front. 1915 date inside tail. CONDITION: Slightly dirty. The chin strap is very flaked. The rosettes are missing. 4-43050 (750-1,250)

406. GREEN FIBER SHAKO WITH NAZI EAGLE AND SWASTIKA EMBLEM. Size 56-1/2 by Robert Lubstein. CONDITION: Does not show much wear, although there is some staining on the sweatband and some insect damage to the rear of the covering fabric. The chinstrap is missing. 4-43038 (800-1,200)

407. BAVARIAN PICKELHAUBE. The pressed fiber body is dated 1915 below the "SCHWEYER / MUNCHEN." Red, white and green rosette on right side, German silver, blue and German silver on the left. CONDITION: Bill and tail have some loss to tar finish. The liner is flaked and fragile. 4-43041 (800-1,000)

408. NAZI COFFEE CAN SS-STYLE HAT. Black felt covering with silver braid around the top, leather chip strap. Silver plated skull and cross bone under swastika/eagle on front. Complete with black SS and RZM silver wire on black label inside. The marking on the crown liner is not visible. A typed label "SS-Oberfuhrer / Gerhard Kobert" is inside the crown liner. CONDITION: Slightly dirty, but still sound, with only minor wear on the outside, considerable wear on the black leather sweatband. 4-43049 (500-1,000)

409. GERMAN WWII HELMET. Eagle/swastika decal on left side. CONDITION: Retains about half of the green paint. The liner is frayed around the base, but still solid. 4-43045 (100-300)

410. GERMAN WWII HELMET WITH SS DECAL. The decal was applied over an area from which the camouflage paint had been removed. CONDITION: Little of the camouflage paint remains. All rivets for liner have been drilled. The liner that is currently in the helmet is dated 1937, but does not appear to have been attached to a helmet. 4-43060 (300-500)

411. GERMAN FUR HAT. Small size, stiff leather body is covered with black fur. The stiff leather crown is uncovered. Decorations include a 4-inch skull and cross bone, and a "MIT. GOTT. FUR. KONIG. UND. VATERLAND" banner. A red, white and black rosette is on the right chinstrap stud. CONDITION: Generally very good, with considerable wear on the top right portion of the fur. 4-43032 (1,750-2,750)

412. NAZI POLICE VISOR HAT. Made by Albert Lammerer. Turquoise top with orange bands. Olive green band with same orange body, silver wire chin strap. CONDITION: The top support and sweatband are broken, the bill is unstitched on the left side, the inside of the bill is heavily worn. There is slight moth damage on the top and band. The inner lining is torn and flaked. 4-43046 (100-200)

413. NAZI CHAPLAIN’S VISOR HAT. Light green top with dark green cloth band, black and silver braid. The markings on the crown protector are not readable. CONDITION: The top support and sweat liner are broken, and all cloth is very dirty. The wire on the knot is broken and is coming loose. 4-43048 (100-300)

414. NAZI LUFTWAFFE OFFICER’S HAT. Standard gray top with black band and visor, silver wire edging and chin loop. The crown liner is missing, but a faint imprint of the marking remains in the top cloth. CONDITION: The top is grease stained and dirty, due to the loss of the liner. The is some wear on the inside of the right side of the bill. The sweatband has considerable wear and some flaking. 4-43047 (300-500)

415. NAZI VISOR HAT. Tan top with gold braid band. Brown velvet body with gold bands. Brown visor. Oak leaf wreath around party badge on body band. Eagle and swastika on top. Gold wire chin strap. CONDITION: Does not show much use and has no label in the crown. 4-43044 (100-300)

433. 19th CENTURY SWORD WITH GILT DECORATIONS. The left side of the blade has a sun face, a wreath, an eagle with E Pluribus Unum banner and a stand of flags, all with gilt decoration. The left side of the blade has the inscription "HONOUR AND MY COUNTRY" with gilt bands and decorations on the end. Plain brass military P guard grip. CONDITION: Several spots of moderate pitting in the center of the blade, heavy toward to tip, which is broken off. Most of the gilt remains in the decorated sections. The leather covering of the grip is badly worn, but still solid. 4-4 2366 (500-700)

434. AMES NAVAL CUTLASS. 26" blade with inspector marks dated 1862. CONDITION: Gray patina overall, with spots of moderate to heavy pitting. The wrap and wire are missing from the grip. The top is badly battered, with some looseness in the top rivet. 4-42367 FS160 (200-400)

435. AMERICAN REVOLUTIONARY WAR PERIOD OFFICER’S HANGER A crude colonial hanger dating to the middle of the 18th century having a curved single edged blade measuring 26 1/2" with a single fuller mounted in a pierced sheet iron D-guard hilt with a cast iron urn shaped pommel. The grip is of carved black walnut. This early officer’s sword is typical of those used in the American colonies during the period of the French and Indian War through the Revolutionary War. CONDITION: Very good. The blade is dark and uncleaned with light surface pitting overall. Knuckle bow is bent. The grip shows minor surface cracking. 4-42443 CW26 (500-800)

436. U.S. MODEL 1842 NAVAL SWORD. The maker’s mark is not readable, but the date 1862 is. CONDITION: Moderate to heavy pitting on the blade. All of the leather and wire wrapping is missing from the grip. Some of the rivets are missing from the guard, which is badly dented. 4-42456 (200-400)

437. FRENCH MODEL 1841 NAVAL CUTLASs. 26-5/8" single fuller blade engraved with anchor on either side and Chatellerault markings on top. CONDITION: Blade is bright with scattered specks of light rust and pitting. Several light nicks on edge. The iron grip and guard have live rust from poor storage. The scabbard is very good, retaining most of its black finish. The throat liner is missing. 4-42456 FS65 (300-500)

438. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1861 RIFLE MUSKET. .58 cal., 39-1/2" barrel. Lock and barrel dated 1862. "H" stamped on top of butt plate. The ramrod is a replacement. CONDITION: Metal has been cleaned and is beginning to tone, with some areas of light pitting and surface rust. The stock has been scraped, refinished and scraped again. A small chip is missing below the lock. The bore is very dirty. The period sling is cracked and broken. 4-42370 FS32 (500-800)

439. SPENCER LEVER ACTION SPORTING RIFLE (BUFFALO GUN). Cal. appears to be 56-46. Standard sporting rifle with 26" round barrel, replacement high blade front sight, Spencer ladder barrel sight and a factory tang sight adjustable for elevation only. Usual receiver markings on the top flat, uncheckered wood with long forearm having a metal tip and secured with two screws. Straight stock with carbine type butt having an original magazine tube. Ser. 1257. CONDITION: Good, metal has been polished bright, draw filed on the receiver with light pitting on the barrel, heavier on the receiver and hammer. The forearm retains no original finish with minor nicks, dings and scratches. The buttstock is sound and retains 80-85% strong bright varnish with light nicks and dings, a couple of bruises, with some dark oil staining near the receiver, one replaced screw on the receiver. Strong bore with good shine and scattered pitting. 4-42596 (1,750-2,500)

440. SHARPS NEW MODEL 1859 MILITARY RIFLE. Ser. 41660. .52 cal., 30" round barrel. Standard markings on barrel and action. The buttstock is a replacement and has no markings. The bayonet lug under the barrel is unmarked. CONDITION: Gray patina overall, mixed with light to moderate pitting. The right side of the receiver has been battered in the area of the replaced lever pin. The buttstock has minor chips missing at the toe and below the lock. It has been lightly sanded and oiled. The forearm has been cracked at the receiver, repaired, sanded and re-oiled. The bore is evenly pitted and very dirty. 4-42595 FS147 (3,500-5,000)

441. CIVIL WAR RICHARDSON AND OVERMAN CARBINE. Lockplate marked Gallagers. Patent July 17th, 1860 also "Manufactured by Richardson & Oberman, Philadelphia." Ser. 8970. Fitted with original saddle ring. CONDITION: Gun was exposed to a fire, one side of the stock charred. Metal parts with brown pitted patina overall. 4-42257 (400-600)

443. PRESENTATION GRADE OSBORNE MODEL 1816 FLINTLOCK MUSKET. No serial number. 69 cal., 42" round barrel. The bottom of the stock behind the trigger guard is marked "H.OSBORNE / SPRINGFIELD / JL." The lock is marked with "SPRINGFIELD" under a heart with an X through it and an eagle head. Another heart with an X through it is to the rear of the lockplate. An ivory heart is inlaid in the top of the wrist. The right side of the stock is carved with a cheek piece that is inlaid with an ivory half moon. A collector’s brass tag "C.M.P." is attached. CONDITION: Rust brown patina overall with light to moderate pitting on the triggerguard and at the rear of the barrel. The wood is in very good condition, with only minor chips and dents. The bore is poor. Mechanically good. 4-42613 FS137 (2,000-3,000)

444. HENKELS CONTRACT MUSKET FOR THE STATE OF MARYLAND. No serial number. 69 cal., 44" round barrel. The lock is marked "D . HENKELS" in a circle above "PHILa" in front of the hammer and "1814" at the rear of the lock. This lockplate originally had a sharp tip at the rear, but that has been removed to fit this lock recess. The left side of the stock is marked "MARYLAND." No proof marks are visible on the barrel. The sling swivels are missing. The ramrod is a good replacement. The rear of the barrel tang has been broken off, but is still in the stock. A collector’s brass tag "C.M.P." is attached. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina overall with moderate to heavy pitting around the rear of the barrel. The rear barrel band is badly corroded and possibly repaired. The wood is chipped and split to the rear of this band, otherwise the stock is good. 4-42614 FS136 (2,000-3,000)

445. I. PAUL PERCUSSION FULL STOCK RIFLE. No serial number. 40 cal., 44" octagonal barrel. CONDITION: Heavily corroded in the breech area. A large chunk of wood is missing above the lockplate and a small piece in front of it. The barrel tang does not fit the stock recess very well. The stock has been broken through the lockplate area and poorly repaired with nails. Mechanism needs adjustment. 4-42383 FS138 (400-600)

446. UNMARKED FLINTLOCK HALF STOCK KENTUCKY RIFLE. Cal. About 40. Reconverted early flintlock Kentucky with 42-1/2" octagon barrel, two brass ramrod guides on a bottom iron rib, period of use replacement wood rammer with brass nosecap and nosepipe, fancy brass trigger guard and buttplate with faceted tang, dainty moderately figured half stock with severe drop and small cheek piece without patchbox, having fourteen German silver inlays and bell shaped German silver sideplate, double set triggers, fixed sight. The barrel is unmarked except for a "VI" behind the rear sight. CONDITION: Very good, the lock is functional, possibly an old replacement. The barrel shows considerable wear and cleaning beginning to patinate. The stock retains most of an old refinish with light handling and use marks, a small crack, a replaced 3-1/2" sliver at the right forend tip and fill area on the right side of the forearm and a repair at the toe. There is a 3/4" replaced piece of wood behind the pan and a small crack by the sideplate, moderate to heavy pitting around the breech area and tang. 4-42968 JL3 (900-1,200)

447. CONVERTED GERMANIC SWIVEL BREECH FOWLING PIECE. No serial number. 18 ga., 31" part octagonal barrel. No markings are visible. The lock is engraved with a running animal. The sideplate has similar engraving. The buttstock has light carving. The front half of the triggerguard has been broken off and replaced with a repair of different color. The current triggerguard does not match the hole carved in the stock. CONDITION: Rust brown patina overall, with heavy pitting in the breech area. The wood has been repaired with wood and filler replacements, sanded and refinished. The lock works, but the trigger assembly is missing parts. 4-42388 (2,000-2,500)

448. GERMAN JAEGER. No serial number. 66 cal., 32" swamped octagonal barrel. Marked "... Wagner. In Eychstett." on top of barrel. Reconverted to flintlock. The target sight at the wrist appears to be an afterthought, as it is mounted at an angle on the barrel with the base parallel to the top of the wrist. The rear sight has been modified, and the front sight and ramrod are replacements. The sling stud in the bottom of the butt is missing. The wood has been cracked through the wrist and along the comb and has been repaired using fillers. The stock has been refinished in this area. 4-42390 (1,750-2,750)

449. CONVERTED JAEGER-STYLE FOWLING PIECE. No serial number. 20 ga., 25-3/16" part octagonal barrel. The rifle-style stock is mounted with a shotgun-style barrel. The flintlock has been converted to percussion using the bolster method. The stock is lightly carved with vines and flowers. The ramrod is a replacement. The front swing swivel is missing. CONDITION: Rust brown patina on barrel and lock. The stock has been repaired, sanded and refinished. The bore is poor. Mechanically functional. 4-42393 (750-1,000)

450. SOUTHERN-STYLE FLINTLOCK LONG RIFLE. No serial number .42 cal., 46" octagonal barrel. The tiger maple stock is mounted with a brass patchbox and other brass and German silver mounts and decorations. The reconverted flintlock lockplate is of the late single screw variety with roller frizzen and gooseneck hammer added. The touch hole has been bushed with a large piece of brass. There are signs of a marking on the barrel, but they are not readable. There is a silver plate inlaid at the top of the barrel under the rear sight. Some of the inlaid German silver pieces are reinforces for repairs, others are nonfunctional. CONDITION: Rust brown patina on the barrel, lock and triggerplate. The stock has been broken and repaired in several places with some refinish in repaired areas. The patchbox lid is bent and needs to be repaired. The bore is poor. 4-42394 (2,500-3,000)

451. AUSTRIAN TUBE LOCK BOY’S RIFLE. Ser. 88/672. .54 cal., 24-1/2" round barrel. The number 88 appears on the buttplate, triggerguard, sideplate, and barrel bands (all of the brass parts). The number 672 appears only on the tang and buttplate.) The swivel is missing from the front of the triggerguard, and there is no place for one on either of the bands. The ramrod is a replacement. CONDITION: Gray patina mixed with light surface rust and pitting on iron parts, mellow patina on brass. The wood has some minor cracks on the forearm and has been sanded and refinished. The bore is dark. Mechanically good. 4-42384 FS120 (800-1,200)

452. CRAIG PERCUSSION HALF STOCK RIFLE. No serial number. .38 cal., 36" octagonal barrel. The tang sight, set trigger and the rear barrel sight are missing. The ramrod, ramrod pipes and nipple are replacements. CONDITION: Rust brown patina overall. The German silver mountings are generally good, with slight bends to the patchbox cover. The bore is poor. Mechanically needs parts. 4-42389 FS126 (500-800)

453. ENFIELD SNIDER RIFLE WITH POWDER HORN. .577 cal., 36-1/2" round barrel. The ramrod has been shortened. The 15" powder horn is badly shattered and has a spurious inscription relating it to Gettysburg. CONDITION: Mostly blue/brown patina on metal parts. The stock has been carved with several sets of initials and is badly scratched and battered. The bore is poor. Mechanically good. 4-42364 FS25 (200-400)

454. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1884 TRAPDOOR RIFLE WITH BAYONET. Ser. 427638. .45/70 cal., 32-5/8" barrel. CONDITION: Covered with a mixture of dried grease and rust with some active rust. The inspector cartouche is sharp. The stock has moderate to heavy dents and scratches and some minor cracking along the forearm. The bayonet matches in condition. Bright casehardening colors on the bottom of the breech block. The bore is very dirty. 4-42311 FS36 (500-800)

455. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1863 RIFLE MUSKET. .58 cal., 40" barrel. Missing the ramrod. CONDITION: Generally good, but suffers from poor storage with much live rust. The stock has minor cracks at the rear of the lock plate, plus normal dents and scratches. The bore is poor. Mechanically good. 4-42448 FS59 (400-650)

456. TOWER MODEL 1855 RIFLE MUSKET. .577 cal., 39" barrel. Dated 1863 on the lock. Missing the hammer screw. CONDITION: As found with heavy rust/grease coating on metal parts. Minor chipping near the butt plate, otherwise good stock. Rear of barrel tang broken off and missing. The bore is poor. 4-42451 FS61 (400-650)

457. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1889 RAMROD BAYONET TRAP DOOR RIFLE. Ser. 562023. .45/70 cal., 32-5/8" barrel. "SWP / 1893" inspector cartouche on left side of stock. The sear screw is broken. CONDITION: All metal parts are coated with a heavy grease-rust mixture. The stock has some heavy dents on the left side, minor cracks around the lock plate and some paint spatters overall. The bore is bright but pitted. Mechanically fine. 4-42440 FS16 (300-600)

458. SPRINGFIELD 1884 TRAPDOOR RIFLE. Ser. 54494. Fitted with ramrod bayonet, rolling block marked "US Model 1884", lock stamped with eagle and marked "US Springfield". Stock with inspectors mark. CONDITION: Barrel worn to even brown patina. Only traces of Case hardening on trapdoor and lockplate. Minor surface pitting scattered throughout, stock with minor scuffs and dings. 4-42256 (300-400)

459. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1888 RAMROD BAYONET TRAPDOOR RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. Standard rifle with round 3-dimple ramrod bayonet, 32-1/2" round barrel, standard sights, two barrel bands, 1-piece walnut stock, with "1890" dated cartouche. Ser. 507677. CONDITION: Very good, the barrel retains 92-94% bright original blue with scattered light surface rust, the breech block retains 25-30% dull case colors with the balance a gray/brown patina. The lockplate and hammer retain most of their original finish, the trigger guard retains 60-70% bright blue with surface rust, the stock is sound with minor handling nicks and scratches. Excellent bright shiny bore with some light pitting. 4-42605 JL316 (400-600)

460. EARLY PERSIAN HELMET WITH ANIMAL FACE AND HORNS. Completely engraved except area at front which was silver damascened. CONDITION: Rust brown patina overall with spots of moderate pitting. Much of the silver has worn from the surface. The chainmail is still fine. 4-43052 FS179 (1,000-1,500)

461. EUROPEAN CABASSET. 7-3/4" crown. The plume holder and all rivets are replaced. CONDITION: The top has been filed to reduce the size of the pitting, which is quite heavy where it has not been worked on. 4-43033 (1,200-1,600)

462. LOBSTER TAIL HELMET. A hole has been punched through the bill, defacing a marking starting with SO. A possible maker’s mark is on the underside of the bill and consists of a cross and two rows of three each dots, all punched with the same punch. These same marks are found on the tailpieces. CONDITION: The earflaps are bent and cracked, and do not match each other. Much of the strapping on the tail is cracked, broken and missing. Part of the leather band around the base of the bowl is missing. All surfaces are dented and irregular with moderate pitting inside. 4-43034 (1,600-1,800)

463. ENGRAVED AND DAMASCENED PERSIAN HELMET WITH CHAINMAIL PENDANTS. The crown is completely covered with engraved domestic scenes and writing. There are gold highlights in the scenes and around each of the vignettes. There is silver damascened in the writing and minor borders. CONDITION: About half of the damascened work has worn away. The chainmail is missing a few links, but is very good. The padded cloth lining is somewhat tattered. 4-43043 FS178 (1,000-1,500)

464. VELVET AND BRASS COVERED SHIELD. Probably Indian. Red leather interior with the same material covering the strap. The brass decorations on the front are covered with flowers and vines. The boss in the center is copper and appears to be a replacement. CONDITION: Most of the nap is worn from the velvet. A few rivets are missing. The leather interior is worn and cracked. 4-43056 (1,000-1,250)

Lot 465-468

465. BRITISH NAVY OFFICER’S HAT, EPAULETTS, AND BELT IN ORIGINAL PAINTED CASE WITH HATBAND AND GLOVES. The hat is marked in gold inside the crown "GEO. SPENCER / 8, ORDNANCE RD. / THE HARD / Portsmouth." It is decorated with gold wire, front and back, with a loop on the right side. The case has a name "J.H. Malcolm, / R.N." on the lid. Several labels have been pasted to the trunk at various times, but they have mostly been removed. CONDITION: Considerable insect damage to the sweatband of the hat, but little on the exterior. The wire decorations are somewhat tattered. The belt, hatband and gloves are fine. The epaulettes are both bent and very dirty. The case has numerous cracks and chips to the finish and the latch has been drilled. 4-43055 (750-950)

466. FRENCH MODEL 1913 POLICE OR FIREMAN’S HELMET. Plated metal mountings on smooth brass surface. Black horsehair brush mounted on top. Missing the attaching leather for the chin strap. CONDITION: Some small dents on the crown. The leather liner and mounts are badly frayed. A number of hair tufts are missing from the comb. 4-43035 (800-1,000)

467. FRENCH MODEL 1872 DRAGOON HELMET. Long horsehair plumes on top of gilt brass crest. CONDITION: 20% nickel plating remains on the cap and tail. 50% on the bill. The crest and front plate have a few dents, but are generally good. The liner is detached and somewhat frayed. 4-43036 (800-1,000)

468. NAZI WWII HELMET WITH SNOW CAMOUFLAGE. CONDITION: Much wear and scratching to the camouflage. The eagle swastika decal is very faint. The replacement liner is dated 1938, but the leather is split and tattered. It is not attached to the helmet. 4-43061 FS177 (200-400)

Lot 469-470

469. REMINGTON NEW MODEL ARMY REVOLVER CONVERTED TO CARBINE. No serial number. .44 cal., 16" barrel. The origin of the barrel is uncertain. The shoulderstock is the generic type sold by various mail order houses. CONDITION: Cleaned and polished with only a third of the nickel remaining on the shoulderstock. The hammer, loading lever and cylinder pin are replacements. The bore is dark. Mechanically needs adjustment. 4-43097 FS164 (300-600)

470. *STEVENS MODEL 50 SINGLE SHOT PISTOL WITH SHOULDERSTOCK AND TELESCOPE. Ser. 22104, all matching, although the last three digits of the stock show signs of alteration. Scope No. 550. The tang sight screw holes do not appear to have been tapped. CONDITION: 95% bright nickel on action and shoulderstock, with only loss in the tang sight area. 20% blue on barrel, very thin where not protected by the scope. The bore and grips are fine. The hammer has spots of light surface rust and staining. 95% blue on the scope, with wear on the mounts and where the mounts touch the scope. 4-43100 FS247 (800-1,500)

473. * JOHN MARTZ MADE LUGER CARBINE. Cal. 9 mm. Spectacular and wonderful Luger carbine created from a standard Luger by John Martz of Lincoln, CA. This is number 35 of 81 that he made. Our carbine is described as having a 16" tapered round barrel, original type ramp front sight, with brass bead, fine tune 800 meter rear sight, checkered Schnable forearm and fabulous flame grained buttstock with original size swivels and an original type serrated black composition buttplate. The frame has full checkered wood grips and is accompanied by an unmarked wood base magazine. The trigger, lock bolt, thumb safety, ejector and stock locking lever are beautifully straw colored, the sight elevator bar, toggle pins and grip screws are bright niter blued. One of three spectacular reproduction Mauser carbines, this one with 16" tapered round barrel, ramp front sight and 500 meter rear sight, typical Mauser type uncheckered wood with semi-Schnable forearm and absolute identical attached shoulder stock with the exception of the take-down button being on the right side instead of the left. Mr. Morgan was faithful in detail and reproduced an outstanding piece of work. The Mauser banner is on the top flat over the chamber with matching numbers on all the parts, typical Mauser sling swivels are installed in the forearm and buttstock with an original type Mauser carbine buttplate. 475. * RARE MODEL 1936 THAI POLICE ARTILLERY LUGER. Cal. 9 mm. Extremely rare artillery Luger, one of only one hundred made for the Thai Police. This scarce pistol is complete with two matching numbered magazines and matching numbered board stock. It also has an original Thai issued holster without straps. This pistol was purchased by consignor in 1981 from Odin International who had apparently purchased the remaining sixty-two of them from the Thai Government. The accompanying list of these pistols shows only one, this one, with two matching numbered magazines and matching numbered stock. The back of the frame is marked with a Thai Police lion head stamp and three Thai numbers. The front of the trigger guard has Odin’s import marks. The holster was subsequently discovered in Thailand by a Thai doctor friend of the consignor. Our pistol is described as having an 8" barrel, adjustable sight which is numbered "15", "1936" chamber date with Mauser banner toggle link. It has well worn unnumbered full checkered wood grips, the stock is a usual Luger board stock with the serial number stamped on the left side near the attaching iron. The holster is a standard artillery holster of brown leather with a Luger tool pocket in the lid and a metal and wood cleaning rod in the pouch (Consignor states cleaning rod was added later.) Ser. 3477v. CONDITION: Good to very good, retains a dark blue/brown patina overall with some very fine pitting on the barrel, the grips are dark and very worn with a couple of light bruises in the checkering, the toggle assembly retains about 80% dull original blue. Both magazines retain 80-90% dull original blue, the stock is very good without straps or screws, the iron retains 85-90% blue with some crusty rust, the holster is sound with a dark spot on the lid which also has a crackled finish, otherwise retains 75-80% brown finish, very bright on the back, excellent bright bore. 4-43084 JL354 (3,500-5,000)

477. * LUGER 1936 PERSIAN ARTILLERY RIG. Cal. 9 mm. Beautiful Persian Artillery with 8" barrel, all markings in Farsi, with Persian Royal Crest over the chamber, adjustable rear sight, full checkered wood grips and aluminum based magazine numbered to another pistol. Accompanied by its original brown leather holster with tool and board stock, numbered to this pistol, with straps and double mag pouch. Accompanied by a letter dated 1985 from World-Wide Arms Ltd. of England stating that this pistol was purchased by them from Switzerland in 1978 and that it had been in Switzerland from 1974. Ser. (In Farsi) 3483. CONDITION: Very good to excellent, all matching including the board stock, retains about 95% thin original blue overall with muzzle and edge wear. The various parts retain 25-30% straw colors, the front and back straps are turning gray, the grips are sound with moderate diamond point wear and a few minor chips. Excellent bright shiny bore, the holster has had the front strap replaced and is missing the security loop, otherwise retains 75-80% original brown finish. The toe boot has also been crudely repaired, the stock is sound and retains 50-60% original varnish with nicks and scratches, the straps are intact, the mag pouch is very good, missing the closure strap. 4-43083 JL363 (2,500-4,000)

478. * MODEL 1923 STOEGER LUGER. Cal. 7.65 Luger (30 Luger). Scarce Stoeger Luger with 2-line company markings on the right side with "Germany" stamped just above the ejector. American eagle over the chamber and DWM toggle link, 4" barrel with Swiss type front sight. Full checkered wood grips with "Germany" marked wood base magazine. Accompanied by an original black Stoeger marked leather holster. The back of the holster is stamped "Stoeger / Genuine / Luger". Ser. 8373. CONDITION: Excellent plus, truly outstanding, retaining 97-98% strong bright original finish, excellent grips, with light diamond point wear, excellent magazine and brilliant shiny bore. Also has an original German catalog showing this pistol with the stock. CONDITION: Excellent, with little signs of use. The metal on the stock has been cleaned and has little finish. 480. *FINE COMMERCIAL MAUSER MODEL 1896 BOLO SEMIAUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH STOCK. Ser. 499686, all matching on gun. Ser. 747 on the metal of the stop, which also has the Mauser logo stamped in the wood. 7.63 mm, 4" barrel. Two stripper clips are included. A letter accompanying the pistol identifies it as having been purchased by the German Console in South Africa in 1934. CONDITION: Appears to be almost unused, agreeing with the accompanying letter. 481. *SCARCE RED 9 MAUSER MODEL 1896 SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH SHOULDERSTOCK. Ser. 117240 7.63mm, 5-1/2" round barrel. "117" on the metal shoulder stock, which is also marked "MAJ. T C HATCHER" on the front of the lid. The leather rig is marked "Kernkloger & Co. / 1916 / Neu-Ulm" on the reverse. One stripper clip is included. The cleaning rod is missing. CONDITION: 60% blue overall, very thin on the barrel and grip straps. The grips have minor dents and scratches. The bore is lightly pitted, but bright. Mechanically tight. 483. * LAHTI VKT TYPE 1 PISTOL WITH ORIGINAL STOCK HOLSTER. Cal. 9mm. Extremely rare Type 1 pistol, early 1939 issue with blued finish, 4-1/2" barrel, VKT checkered brown composition grips, marked on the top with the "VKT" logo, "L-35" and "SA" in a square. Accompanied by an original leather holster with loading tool in its pouch inside the lid, steel cleaning rod and bright "SA" inspected spare magazine. Also accompanied by an original Type 1 extremely rare wood and metal holster stock with leather frog in the staple, this stock is pictured on page 599 Handguns of the World, Ezell; page 190 Pistols of the World, Hogg/Weeks; page 76-77 The World’s Machine Pistols & Sub-Machine Guns, Vol IIA, Nelson/Musgrave; page 149-176 German Language Waffen Digest, Karl Schaefer. Less than 200 of all types of this stock were reportedly ever made and probably less than 50 of the original configuration, long Type 1. Ser. 1468. CONDITION: Excellent, retains 95-97% bright original blue, with only light muzzle and edge wear with a spot of rust on the barrel, thinning front and back straps, the grips are excellent, the bore bright and shiny. The leather holster is much worn with crackled surface, but is supple and complete. The rare holster stock is excellent plus, retaining virtually all its original finish to wood and metal. 484. * LAHTI COMMEMORATIVE L-35 PISTOL BY VALMET. Cal. 9 mm. 1985 issue, exact reproduction of the Lahti VKT pistol, by Valmet, number 70 of only 100 produced. It has high gloss blued finish with VKT logo checkered brown composition grips. It is accompanied by its original presentation case with a parts list in the lid written in Finnish, one magazine. Ser. 50070. CONDITION: Excellent to new, retains virtually all its original high luster blue finish, with two small spots on the top of the slide, otherwise is pristine new and unfired. 485. *MAUSER MODEL 1896 SEMIAUTOMATIC PISTOL WITH SHOULDERSTOCK. Ser. 343086. Number on Stock is 867. 7.63mm, 5-1/2" barrel. The maker’s name on the stock leather is not readable, but it is dated 1917. The cleaning rod is a reproduction. A red, white and black helmet rosette accompanies the lot, purportedly taken from the soldier when the gun was captured. CONDITION: 85% blue, with wear on the barrel in front of the frame from the stock, mostly worn from the grip straps. The stock is fine. The leather is cracked and has a large hole from the latch and the unstitched seam along the top. 4-43092 FS248 (1,250-1,750)

486. * RARE PERSIAN CONTRACT BROOMHANDLE MAUSER. Cal. 30 Mauser. One of only 1,000 made on 1910 contract, usual Mauser configuration, small ring hammer, fine line serrated wood grip panels with Lanyard loop in the butt. The left rear side panel engraved with the Persian lion holding a sword and the left side of the top receiver stamped with a sunburst military acceptance. Accompanied by one original nickel plated stripper clip. Ser. 154514. CONDITION: Good plus, retains 80-85% original thin blue overall, with some light scattered rust on the barrel, apparently from wooden holster stock wear. Retains 85-90% niter blue on the safety, sight slide and firing pin retainer, strong dull bore with good shine. The front strap has unit markings "S.C.23R 179" (the 23 has been Xed out). Accompanied by a black Luger holster dated "41" with a black military belt having an aluminum "Gott Mit Uns" Nazi buckle. 493. ANSCHUTZ DOUBLE RIFLE DRILLING. Cal. 8X57JR Rifle Barrels over 16 ga. shotgun. Unusual double rifle drilling with 24-1/4" barrels, having a wide top rib, with ramp front sight and 2-leaf express sight with claw bases. Barrels have double lumps with Greener crossbolt, deluxe receiver, side clips, having full coverage deep engraving with vignettes of Raebuck, stag, ducks and a fox on the trigger guard, with a stag on the engraved four-hole toeplate, missing the forearm with checkered cheekpiece buttstock and serrated horn buttplate. There is a small initial plate behind the grip cap with the initials "KP". Ser. 40721. CONDITION: As noted, missing the forearm, otherwise very good. The barrels retain 92-94% strong bright original blue, the receiver has been polished bright, the wood with a replaced chip at the toe retains most of a shiny refinish. 494. BARTELS & BUTTNER HAMMER DRILLING. Cal. 16X16/9.3X72R. Beautiful early German drilling with 27-3/4" barrels, with the maker’s name and other marks in the chamber area with about 1-1/4" of beautiful scroll and fleur-de-lis silver inlays over the chamber and one wide, one narrow silver bands at the barrel root. Tiny round action with back action locks, fully engraved with stag and hinds on the left side and Raebuck on the right side. The left lock has flying ducks and the right lock has rabbits, all surrounded with beautiful leaf and vine patterns. Tiny checkered splinter forearm, double lump with Greener crossbolt, front trigger is set, light colored European walnut buttstock with checkered pistol grip, small high cheekpiece, 13-3/4" over a serrated horn buttplate with an engraved four-hole toe trap. Ser. 1223. CONDITION: The barrels are excellent and retain most of an old re-blacking, the receiver and sidelocks retain 60-70% original subtle case colors with some original shellac with the balanced turned silver, the horn trigger guard is excellent, the forearm is dark and oil stained, the buttstock is excellent and retains virtually all its original varnish with two or three deep scratches down the right side and normal handling and use marks. 496. US MILITARY SIGNAL LAMP WITH STOCK. Early flash lamp style signal light, five D-cell batteries, 17-1/2" long overall, with crude sights having a stamped metal skeleton buttstock with firearms type trigger and telegraph key attaching posts under the front. Marked on the left side "Signal Lamp M227" and on the grip of the stock "M-341". Accompanied by an original canvas carrying case and a small 3-leg metal tripod in the original cardboard wrap and an Army tech manual dated "1964" and a supplement dated "1970." CONDITION: Very good to excellent, the metal retains most of its original OD paint with some losses around the battery cap. The stock is near perfect, the canvas bag is tattered and worn with loss from the back, the tripod is very good but one leg threads are stripped. The manuals are excellent. 497. LOT OF FIVE HANDGUN SHOULDER STOCKS. (1) Reproduction brass skeleton stock for a Colt revolver, possibly dragoon size, 14-1/2" overall length, notched at the front for the extended fourth screw on the frame with a hook for the bottom of the butt, very good with casting flaws. (2) Nickeled skeleton stock attached to a grip frame with checkered walnut grips. This appears to have been a salesman’s sample or possibly a factory production sample for some large frame revolver that is unknown to this cataloguer, excellent, unused condition. (3) Stamped metal stock for a slotted hand gun of some sort, possibly broom handle or Browning high power, about 13" overall with black leather covered butt, excellent condition. (4) Unusual stamped metal stock with concealed dagger and folding black composition handle, possibly for a Browning High Power or slotted 45 auto, excellent unused condition. 498. WEBLEY NO. 1 MARK I FLARE PISTOL. Cal. 37 mm. Built on a Webley No. 6 Mark I frame, with stepped round 10" barrel, dated "1916" with usual markings and proofs on the barrel and the model designation on the frame. Attached to the grip is the matching numbered stock with iron yoke that replaces the left grip having a wood stock attached with sling swivel in the toe. The right grip has been replaced with a brass facsimile, the stock is numbered to the frame. Ser. 15750. CONDITION: Very good to excellent, all matching, the pistol and frame retain about 93-95% original blue with some fine surface rust. The stock iron has been broken and re-welded and retains about 75% original finish. The stock is sound retaining about 90% original varnish with whittled areas on the front right end and at the left rear heel, dark bore with fine pitting. 4-43103 JL368 (400-600)

499. NATIONAL LEAD COMPANY STOCK FOR WOODSMAN PISTOL. Extremely well made brown leather stock holster for a pre-war Colt Woodsman with its original 2-piece blue box with blue and gold label, the back panel of the stock is marked with the patent date of "1925", the initials "N-S" and "Ventura, Cal." A wire belt loop is attached to the back. CONDITION: Excellent, unused, retaining virtually all its original brown finish. 501. FINE GERMAN HUNTER’S SWORD. Both sides of the 16" blade are etched with forest hunting scenes. The maker’s mark of two squirrels back-to-back appears on the left ricasso. "EDUARD KETTNER KOLN aIRHN." is etched on the back of the blade with oak leaves. The stag hilt is decorated with three acorns. The crossguard is two animal hooves. The top mount of the scabbard has matching brass acorn button for hanger. CONDITION: Generally fine with a few spots of light staining on the blade. The brass mounts have a few spots of patina and corrosion but are generally clean. The scabbard has numerous flaked areas, but is still solid. 4-43112 FS207 (300-500)
